Profile
Viren is a highly accomplished marine engineer and senior engineer consultant whose career reflects deep expertise and global impact. Educated at the Marine Engineering and Research Institute (DMET, India), renowned for producing the world’s finest marine engineers, he has built a career that bridges hands-on engineering command with senior-level technical consulting.
He began his seafaring career in 1987, rising to the rank of Chief Engineer by 1992 while serving on tankers, bulk carriers, and combination carriers. Since moving ashore in 1998, Viren has held senior technical roles with leading ship management companies, where he managed diverse fleets of commercial vessels, cruise ships, and led major dry docking, refurbishment, and fuel efficiency initiatives.
With a rare blend of operational insight and technical vision, Viren has overseen complex shipyard projects, machinery inspections, P&I investigations, H&M claims, and environmental compliance strategies. He is especially respected for his forensic approach to technical investigations and his leadership in adopting innovative technologies that enhance vessel performance, reduce carbon emissions, and ensure regulatory compliance.
As an active Member of the Institute of Marine Engineering (IME) and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME), he further reinforces his professional standing in the global maritime engineering community.
